Thanks for praying! It has been a long time in coming, “just around the corner” for well over a year. But now, any Deaf person in Japan can have the JSL Bible in their pocket. Always available, online or offline. They can jump to any verse right away, choosing their start and stop point. They can quickly switch to fast-forward or slow motion, bookmark favorite passages, and even make video notes to attach to their video Bible, much like “writing” in the virtual “margin.” As one pastor noted “this will revolutionize Deaf culture.”
But there’s just one catch.

Right now, we only have 20% of the Bible translated (53% of the New Testament). Living in Japan is expensive, and translating onto video, with all corrections made in video edits, as well as the final recording, verse referencing, and DVD editing is labor intensive. It all adds up to $200/verse.
We praise God for the funding that has sustained us this far. We praise God for strong Deaf leaders. We praise God for skilled and dedicated staff that are translating better and faster than ever before, on track to finish the Bible in 30 years. We praise God for 62 people praying daily for the JSL Bible. And we praise God that people around the world, Deaf and hearing, are starting to catch a vision for funding that will help us finish much sooner.
