Comprehensions Checks on the Gospel of John

Keep praying for the translation team as they work on the Gospel of John. Right now we’re doing comprehension checks on chapters 1-10. The church people that are checking are so excited to be able to understand it so deeply, some after spending their whole adult lives as fervent Christians. The Word and the Spirit are making connections in them and growing the community of Christ. Meanwhile, down in Tokyo, we have a not-yet-Christian person in to see what she understand the translation to mean. Uiko is having a hard time waiting until after the passage has been thoroughly checked before “telling the answers” of what the more difficult parts mean. Checking would go a lot faster without time spent explaining, but it is so exciting to see how well she does it, and it gives clues to how we could say things differently in the translation as well. Pray for Ms. S as she continues to encounter God’s Word during the comprehension checks, that the Spirit would draw her to Christ.
