Picking up where we left off . . . After some vacation time in Virginia Beach, and a week of work in Telford, PA, we hit the road again. Thanks to God and our prayer team for safe travels and no car incidents.
We flew in to SFO, had one day to pack, and then on August 2, headed for the airport to try and catch a plane to Japan. Flying standby, we didn’t know if both, one, or neither of us would get a seat on the plane, but our only chance out of SFO was August 2. Miss that, and plan B was try to get to Portland August 3. After that, all flights were very full everywhere. I have to admit, I had plenty of anxious moments repacking suitcases and heading to the airport. Our day with Daniel, the hello and the goodbye, had been good in a bittersweet sort of way–so glad to see him and connect, tough to be leaving again. Maybe. All that we carried with us to the airport.
The lady at the counter was nice, but we saw that our bags didn’t go on the conveyor, which meant all the way through security, we still didn’t know what would happen. Imagine our relief then, when coming down the escalator, we saw the same lady, now at the gate, holding up twoboarding passes with a broad smile. On the plane! Relief. When we got theboarding passes , we saw the assignment–seats together. In row 1–Business class. Icing on the cake. We got back to Japan feeling refreshed and cared for. Thanks for praying.
(PS. We apologize for being so late in getting the news out. We managed to get some of the prayer requests and news-bits to our Facebook “Mark and Mary Esther Penner” page. If you “like” us on Facebook, you can get news that way too.)
