The 50 Year View

(In case you can’t read the text on the photo)

Block 1:  The phone call came from out of the blue.  A lady was trying to find my father, would I please contact her?  “The lady” turned out to be my Sunday School teacher from preschool!  She still lives in the same area where my parents worked 50 years ago, and yes, she is still active in church.  Mark and I drove to Kofu and had lunch with her and the tailor’s daughter (the tailor shop had been 3 houses down from us.) “If the Baums had not come, I would not know Jesus, I would not have a Christian home, and two of my three children would not be ministers today.”  Oh how I wish my parents would have been there to hear the stories told during that 4 hour lunch.  But then again, they’ll have all of eternity together to catch up on the stories.  To the many who supported my parents, thank you!

Block 2:  The sushi shop is still on the same street corner as it was 50 years ago and the sushi shop boy still lives there.  However the shop looks considerably smaller,  the street  narrower,  and the boy too seems to have changed in the last 50 years.  That kid is actually a grown man, and,  he is now the owner.
