Wheelchairs of Hope held their first ever “annual” fundraiser this week. (Though the discarded wheelchairs cost us nothing, and the chairs are transported overseas for free, we still have the expense of buying tools and materials and tires & parts to clean, repair and refurbish the wheelchairs. And it takes gasoline, at $6.32/gallon, to first go collect the chairs and later to deliver them to the airport to travel overseas. And we have hired a part-time admin for the many tasks entailed in the project.)
Praise God, the program was well attended. The music and food were great (both donated), and the silent auction went amazingly well considering that Japan is a place where no one wants to outbid someone else who might really want the item. But most thrilling was to see dedicated Christians sit down next to not-yet Christians and engage them in conversation. I was able to deepen a relationship with a gentleman who’s been through some rough times. Please pray for him that he experience God’s healing and open his heart to Jesus.
