I really did mean to write, but I keep losing these “races against time”. The Oregon trip was wonderful. We had to put pretty tight limits on our schedule (no seeing 3 or 4 people per day this time!), but did see God bless the encounters with people we were able to see. Our class of 75 high school re-union was a special joy. With many there you could hardly say “re-connecting”, because after 35 years, it was essentially a new person we were getting to know, but the shared connection with Japan sure made it easier.
Then Sunday, Mark preached at the bi-lingual Spanish/English service (someone interpreted for him), and after that, we got to join the Romanian service and someone translated for us. What a privilege to be with people who “get it” when it comes to reaching the world. People were talking with us long after the service was over, and then we got to have lunch with the pastor and his wife to hear how it all came about.
Now where are we now? In Japan. The “race against time” I mentioned last week? Time won. We’re postponing the recording of Matthew 11-20 from next week to August 2-5. That gives us all next week to put the final touches on the translation. Pray for clarity.
We’ll be here until August 12. Mary Esther is applying for her visa extension, so pray that the process will go well in the time frame we’ve allowed.
