New Translation Worker

Praise God! ViBi has a new worker. Yuki Yamada is a Japanese Bible translator. He and his wife Kawing (from Hong Kong) are members of SIL Asia Area, and trained at the SIL program in the Philippines. They spent the last year adding to their training in a Japanese seminary, and have now accepted a position at ViBi as their first translation assignment. He was first exposed to Filipino Sign Language (FSL) working with the FSL translation team as part of his training. He did so well at learning the heart of the language (face, body) that later, in a two week visit to Japan, he was able to begin communicating with Japanese Deaf people, even though the words are different.

He is full-time doing office work, learning Japanese Sign Language, and already contributing to the translation process by doing exegetical research. Pray for a good transition into his new job. Pray also for ViBi and SIL as we work out a way to support him and his family.
