Pressing on

After three overnights at the ViBi office for Mr. Ogata, our video editor, and five lo—-ong days of work last week and this week, the Genesis 1-15 DVD is done! It is really a beautiful piece of work, with a glossary connected to each chapter introducing the place names, people names, and a very occasional "church word" in that chapter for those who want to see that before diving into the scripture itself. The signing, too, is the most natural we have done to date. Praise God with us that we can now get the DVD’s out to people by Christmas-time. Pray for a good response and wide usage in the Deaf community. (BTW, don’t worry, Mr. Ogata wasn’t sleeping on his office chair! The "office and studio" are actually a 3 bedroom apartment that we’ve divided up, so it really can accomodate overnight guests comfortably.)

While the editing was going on, Mark and Pastor Minamida recorded, checked, and re-recorded chapters 16-18 of Genesis, and have a first draft of most of 19. Since Mr. Ogata was busy with the DVD, Mark did both the checking and the video editing (quick and dirty editing on Windows Movie-maker). Harrowing, mind-bending work that really had him appreciating Mr. Ogata and his video editing skills. But we are moving quickly, and will soon have enough done for a meaning check. This is the fastest and best translation work we’ve been able to do yet. Thanks for praying.
